Samsung Electronics and McDonald's to build eco-friendly digital stores with smart signage
Check various information such as food menus, advertisements, and discount events through Samsung Smart Signage
[The story of the case / Reporter Park Yeon-pa] = Samsung Electronics started to build an eco-friendly digital store without paper menu boards by supplying smart signage to McDonald's Goyang Samsong DT (Drive Thru) store located in Goyang City.
Samsung Smart Signage is a display product that delivers images and information using digital technology. Customers visiting McDonald's can check various information such as food menus, advertisements, and discount events through Samsung Smart Signage.
A smart outdoor signage was installed in the drive-through lane of McDonald's Goyang Samsong DT store where customers can check menus and order while in the car. A total of eight displays were supplied, including a double-sided semi-outdoor signage that can be installed in the store's show window and used both in front and behind the display.
Samsung Electronics has been supplying smart signage for digital menu boards in McDonald's stores since 2011, and it is significant that the Goyang Samsong DT store is the first case of digitizing the menu boards of drive-through lanes as well as in stores.
Samsung Smart Signage enables efficient store operation by improving visibility of in-store menus and advertisements, reducing print replacement costs, and reducing ordering time.
In addition, Samsung Electronics also provided MagicINFO, a total solution program that allows administrators to easily remotely manage menu contents of all McDonald's branches in Korea in real time.
Samsung Electronics plans to continue to supply smart signage to the newly opened McDonald's Drive Through store.
"The global trend of creating eco-friendly commercial spaces is spreading, and smart signage is in the spotlight as a solution to replace analog billboards that continuously discharge paper and plastic," said Ha Hye-seung, executive director of Samsung Electronics' video display division. We will continue to show differentiated products and solutions for various customers and markets.”
According to market researcher Omdia, the global signage market is expected to grow to $19.8 billion in 2023, and Samsung Electronics has a 32.2% share of the LCD smart signage market based on the quantity in the first half of this year (Source: Omdia Markit, commercial TV in the second quarter of 2020.
