Investing 52.5 billion won in material parts technology new project... Announcement of 96 new tasks

Stabilization of the supply chain of key industries, support for the manager of high-tech new industries, ESG response, etc.

[Inside story / Reporter Moon Hong-cheol] = The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 7th that it will announce 96 new support tasks for the material parts technology development project, which will cost a total of 52.5 billion won by the 9th of next month.

This year's materials and parts technology development project is worth 937.56 billion won, an 11.5 percent increase from last year's budget. Of this, 52.5 billion won will be invested in 96 first new support tasks that will be announced from the 8th to the 9th of next month.

First, 21 tasks and KRW 13.4 billion will be newly announced to stabilize the supply chain of key industries.

It supports the development of technologies such as eco-friendly anode materials, electrolytes, and cells for lithium iron phosphate batteries, lithium highly corrosion-resistant refractory ceramic materials and parts for manufacturing secondary batteries, thermal management adhesives for vehicles, and cell to pack battery systems.

In addition, 41 tasks and 19.49 billion won will be newly announced to secure source technology for future high-tech new industries.

It supports the development of technologies such as silicon-based key passive components for 2.5D/3D packages, materials for customized biotransplantation and artificial biomimetics, ultra-high frequency low-loss materials and communication components for 6G, and integrated avionics systems for AAVs.

To develop next-generation technologies necessary for ESG response, such as carbon neutrality and recycling of waste resources, 34 tasks and KRW 19.63 billion will be newly announced.

It supports the development of technologies such as eco-friendly smelting of magnesium using waste resources, wind power propulsion system for eco-friendly ships to reduce carbon emissions, and frame gaskets and stacks in which sealing and sub-gaskets for hydrogen electric vehicles are integrated.

The 96 tasks announced this time were selected through technical committees for each industry sector and industry-university-research-institute public hearings, focusing on 1,552 cases received during the industrial demand survey from August 8 to September 26 of last year, and the recent demand for technology development from industry-university-research institutes was actively reflected. .

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy plans to receive a business plan for the project through the website of the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology by the 9th of next month, and then select a host research institute in April through evaluation by related experts.

Yang Ki-wook, director general of industrial supply chain policy at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, said, “This new R&D project reflects the government’s strong will to unwaveringly promote the strengthening of the competitiveness of the general manager.” Government R&D investment will faithfully play the role of priming water so that it can be built.”
