MOU for youth exchange on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties… Introduced new internship and next-generation expert programs

[Inside story / Correspondent Moon Hong-chul] = Korea and Canada have decided to triple the annual quota for working holidays next year from 4,000 to 12,000 in celebration of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties this year.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Minister Jin Park and Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Jolie signed an MOU on youth exchange between Korea and Canada, which completely revised and expanded the existing Working Holiday Agreement, in the presence of President Seok-Yeol Yoon and Prime Minister Trudeau right after the Korea-Canada summit on the 17th. Signed.

As a result, Korea has virtually become the country with the largest quota, excluding Australia, which has an unlimited quota, among countries with which Canada signed a youth exchange MOU.

The two countries also agreed to create a new chapter for youth exchange and cooperation between the two countries by introducing new internships and next-generation expert programs from next year and raising the age limit for participants from 30 to 35.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “The signing of the MOU for Youth Exchange reflects the will of the two governments to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between future generations. It is expected to make a significant contribution.”
