President Yoon receives a report on the success of the launch by the Minister of Science and ICT and encourages “Thank you for your hard work”

[Inside story / Correspondent Moon Hong-chul] = President Seok-yeol Yoon emphasized that the successful launch of the 3rd Nuri on the 25th was “a sign that we have truly entered the G7 in the space industry.”

Spokesperson Lee Do-woon said in a written briefing that President Yoon congratulated the success of the third launch of the Nuri with his staff at the presidential office in Yongsan, Seoul that afternoon.

Right after the third successful launch of the Nuri, the president connected the Naro Space Center in Goheung via video and received a report on the results of the third launch of the Nuri from Minister of Science and ICT Lee Jong-ho.

Minister Lee Jong-ho said, “I report that the third launch of the Nuri has been completed,” adding, “Yesterday, due to a technical problem that occurred during the preparation process, it was postponed for a day, but field researchers stayed up all night to analyze the cause and make up for it, resulting in success.” .

Upon receiving the report, the president said, “Thank you for your hard work. Congratulations,” he said, expressing joy and encouragement.

“There are only seven countries in the world that can launch rockets and put satellites into orbit with self-made launch vehicles and self-made satellites,” the president explained. “There are seven countries including Korea this time.”

He added, "It's really overwhelming, and as space science plays a leading role in all industries, I think the world's view of Korea's advanced science and technology will change dramatically this time."

He also emphasized, “In the second round last time, we loaded an experimental satellite, but this launch is very meaningful in terms of putting a practical satellite produced by KAIST, the Astronomy Research Institute, and young startup companies into low-Earth orbit and putting it into operation.” did.

Meanwhile, presidential office staff gathered at Jayu Hall on the second floor from 5:30 p.m. to watch the preparations for the launch of the Nuri.

Employees watched with bated breath as the Nuri took off at 6:24 p.m., and applauded and rejoiced at the successful separation of the first stage, pairing, and second stage. When Nuriho succeeded in separating the satellites from the 1st to the 8th, the staff applauded and cheered.

Originally, the president was scheduled to come down to the Jayu Hall on the second floor after the third successful launch of the Nuri, but when he heard the news that the projectile had entered the normal orbit, he came down earlier than planned and shared the joy.
