[사건의내막 / 문홍철 기자] = 최상목 대통령 권한대행은 29일 무안공항에서 발생한 제주항공 여객기 사고와 관련해 전남 무안군을 특별재난지역으로 선포했다.

이는 이날 오전 9시 3분경 발생한 항공기 활주로 이탈 사고로 인한 대규모 인명피해 발생에 따라 범정부 차원의 신속한 피해 수습과 피해자 지원 등을 위한 조치이다.

이번 특별재난지역 선포는 사회재난으로는 13번째 사례다.

특별재난지역이 선포되면, 범부처 차원에서 관련 법령에 따른 피해자 지원 등의 조치가 이뤄지며, 피해 수습·지원은 무안군 이외에도 재난피해자 주민등록 주소지를 관할하는 지방자치단체에서 담당하게 된다.

특별재난지역 선포에 따른 구체적인 지원 사항은 ‘중앙재난안전대책본부회의’를 통해 마련할 방침이다.

최 권한대행은 “이번 사고로 피해를 입으신 사상자 가족분들에 대한 지원에 최선을 다하겠으며, 피해 복구 등 사고 수습에 범정부 차원에서 모든 노력을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
