[사건의내막 / 문홍철 기자] =이재명 대통령이 "더 낮은 자세로 더 국민을 섬기며, '민생·개혁·통합대통령'이 될 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 말했다.
이대통령은 18일 청와대 영빈관에서 기자회견을 열고 국정 운영 방향과 관련해 이 같이 밝혔다.
이 대통령은 먼저 "국민의 명을 받아 국가의 운명과 국민의 삶을 최종 책임지는 무거운 자리로 옮겨온 그 순간부터, 지난 472일간 촌음을 아껴가며 나름의 최선을 다해 왔다"고 말문을 열었다.
하지만 지방선거 이후 제기된 국민의 실망과 걱정에 "당황했던 것도 사실"이라며 "많은 시간 숙고하고 성찰한 결과는 '언제나 국민은 옳다'이다. 모두 저의 부족함 때문이다"라고 자세를 낮췄다.
덧붙여 "국민에 대한 두려움을 되살리고, 모든 일에 더 세심하게, 더 낮게, 더 치열하게 임하겠다"고 강조했다.
이 대통령은 "서로 다르고, 대립되는 것처럼 보이지만 민생, 개혁, 통합은 결국 하나의 길로 수렴된다"며 "국민의 뜻에 따라 흔들림 없이 민생, 개혁, 통합의 길을 걸어가겠다"고다짐했다.

민생 관련해서 "국정의 최고 목표는 민생, 즉 국민의 더 나은 삶과 국가의 더 밝은 미래를 만들어가는 것"이라며 "회복과 성장만큼 민생 개선에 더 집중하겠다"고 밝혔다.
개혁 관련해서는 "정부의 성공이란 임기 마지막 날에, 국민께 실질적 성과로 평가받는다는 신념 아래 반발을 최소화하며 최대한 조용히 성과를 만드는 데 집중해 왔다"며 "다시 신발 끈을 조여 매겠다"고 말했다.
특히 검찰 개혁에 대해선 "검사의 수사 배제, 공소청과 중수청분리로 '수사기소 분리'라는 검찰개혁의 과제가 종착점에 다다르고 있다"라며 "검찰 보완수사권 부재로 생길 수 있는 문제는 경찰 수사에 대한 철저한 견제 보완 장치로 해소하겠다"고 언급했다.
아울러 "고강도 경찰개혁을 통해 수사권 독점에 따라 경찰이 혹여 무소불위 권력기관으로 퇴행하지 않을까 하는 국민의 우려를 불식하겠다"라고 강조했다.
통합 관련해선 "대한민국 대통령은 대한국민 모두의 대통령이어야 한다"라며 "국민들께 제시한 개혁과 진보의 가치를 잃지 않되 소통과 대화를 통해 최대 다수 국민의 합리적 의견을 최대한 국정에 반영하는 '통합의 대통령'이 되겠다"라고 말했다.
