이규연 청와대 홍보소통수석은 이날 오후 이 대통령과 4부 요인 회동을 마친 뒤 가진 브리핑을 통해 "6·3 지방선거 과정에서 발생한 투표용지 부족 사태가 중대한 참정권 침해라는 데 인식을 같이 했다"며 이같이 밝혔다.

이 대통령은 기존 5부 요인에서 선거관리위원장을 제외한 조정식 국회의장, 김민석 국무총리, 김상환 헌법재판소장, 조희대 대법원장 등에게 회동을 요청해 이날 자리가 이뤄졌다.

이 수석은 "참석자들은 이번 사안에 대한 철저한 진상규명과 재발 방지책 수립이 신속히 이뤄져야 한다는 데 역시 뜻을 같이 했다"며 "수사나 국정조사 결과에 따라 관계자들에게는 행정적, 법적 책임을 엄중히 물어야 하며 국민의 신뢰를 회복할 수 있는 수준으로 선거관리 대개혁 방안을 마련하기로 했다"고 말했다.
