제100주년 6·10만세운동 기념일 맞아 독립유공자 13명 포상

[사건의내막 / 문홍철 기자] = 국가보훈부는 제100주년 6·10만세운동 기념일을 맞아 이병립 선생을 비롯한 독립유공자 13명을 포상한다.

6·10만세운동은 1926년 순종 황제 인산일에 학생과 종교계 그리고 사회주의 활동 참여자들이 실행했던 독립만세운동으로 1919년 3.1운동, 1929년 광주학생운동과 함께 우리 민족 3대 만세운동으로 평가된다.

이에 정부는 올해 100주년을 맞이해 6·10만세운동의 의미를 되새기고자 만세운동에 참여한 분들에 대한 포상을 진행했다.

포상에는 연희전문학교 2학년 재학 중 6·10만세운동에 참여하다 체포돼 징역 1년을 받고 옥고를 치른 이병립 선생(애국장), 같은 연희전문학교 학생으로 6·10만세운동에 참여하고 이후 미국 유학길에 올라 미주지역에서 대한민국임시정부 지원 활동을 펼친 유경상 선생(건국포장), 신문배달부로 만세운동에 참여한 것은 물론 만세 시위에 사용할 인쇄물 제작을 돕고 직접 배포한 김낙환 선생(대통령 표창) 등이다.

독립유공자 포상자 13명은 건국훈장 애국장 2명, 건국포장 2명, 대통령표창 9명이며 생존 애국지사는 없다.

건국훈·포장과 대통령표창은 제100주년 6·10만세운동 기념일 중앙기념식 등에서 후손에게 전달된다.

이번 포상으로 정부 수립 이후 누적 독립유공자 포상자는 총 1만 8789명으로 늘었으며 이 가운데 건국훈장은 1만 1943명, 건국포장은 1572명, 대통령표창은 5274명이다.
