이탈리아 동포사회를 대표해 박용주 재이탈리아한인회장은 환영사에서 "최근 높아진 대한민국의 국제적 위상 속에서 조국에 대한 자부심과 긍지를 느끼고 있다"며 "대통령님의 이번 방문은 이탈리아 동포사회에 큰 기쁨과 힘이 되고 있다"고 말했다.
이어 "이번 방문이 한국과 이탈리아를 더욱 가깝게 이어주고 대한민국의 위상과 국익을 높이는 계기가 되기를 바라며 동포사회도 양국을 잇는 든든한 가교 역할을 충실히 수행해 나가겠다"고 밝혔다.
